👏🥫 Big congratulations to our 3rd and 4th graders for collecting the MOST cans during the canned food drive! What an awesome effort! 💪 They celebrated this week with popcorn 🍿 and a movie 🎬 in the cafeteria—well deserved!

Colt Club Spring Break Session: Dates: April 8–9
Time: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Location: Capay Elementary
Who: Capay students TK–6
Cost: Free (limited space)
Activities: Crafts, enrichment, and a movie field trip to Hoppers at Cinemark in Chico on April 8 (bus leaves 9:00 AM, returns ~1:30 PM).
Food: Breakfast, lunch, and snacks provided.

Warm weather is here again! We expect our Capay Colts to wear clothing that aligns with our dress code. Please check the parent handbook if you have any questions. Here are the top items that we see the most dress code violations for:
1. Tops are too short and bare midriffs show. If you child lifts their arms to form a T and their tummy does not show, this is an appropriate length.
2. Straps on shirts should be 2" or greater in width to cover undergarment straps.
3. All shoes must have a back strap.
4. Shorts length should come no higher than mid-thigh.
5. No off the shoulder tops.
6. No undergarments may show.

If a student has a dress code violation, they will be sent to the office to call parents to bring in appropriate clothing. If parents are not available, we have some clothing items they may wear for the school day.

⏰Hamilton Capay Little League's opening day kicks off at 10:00 AM tomorrow, so please arrive a few minutes early to get settled. Picture Day Alert! Be sure to check the attached schedule and arrive early to find your team. If you’ve signed up to contribute lunch items, please bring them to the serving table when you arrive. Bring lawn chairs so you can sit back, relax, and enjoy the event! Parking Reminder – Capay School
We kindly ask that you do not park in the drop-off zone. When entering the Capay School parking lot, there are two lanes on the right-hand side that are designated for drop-off only.
If you need to walk your student onto campus, please park in a designated parking space before exiting your vehicle.
We have buses, vans, and students being dropped off throughout the day, and these lanes must remain clear at all times. For everyone’s safety and to keep traffic flowing smoothly, please do not get out of your vehicle or park in any way in the drop-off lanes. Thank you for your cooperation and for helping keep our campus safe.

To celebrate Read Across America Week, Capay has a special tradition of decorating classroom doors or windows with creative, book-themed designs! Each class has worked hard to showcase their love of reading in a fun and colorful way. This year, we’re adding an extra layer of excitement with a friendly competition! In celebration of Read Across America Day and in honor of the beloved children’s author Dr. Seuss, we are proud to announce the dedication of our New Free Library. We were proud to dedicate it to three extraordinary educators who have devoted their careers to serving the students of Capay.
Lisa Taylor – 21 years of dedicated service
Cathy Cummings – 20 years of dedicated service
Sue Davis – 19 years of dedicated service
Collectively, these remarkable women have given 60 years of commitment, compassion, and inspiration to the children of Capay. Their unwavering dedication to education has shaped generations of learners and fostered a lifelong love of reading and discovery.
It is especially meaningful that this library be dedicated on Read Across America Day—a day that celebrates literacy, imagination, and the joy of books—values that Lisa, Cathy, and Sue have championed throughout their careers.
May this New Free Library stand as a lasting tribute to their service and as a continued source of knowledge, opportunity, and inspiration for all who use it.
