My name is Kari Crawford and I am so excited to be joining the Capay Middle School team. I will be the new 7th grade teacher and math instructor.
I started my career in education as a paraprofessional 19 years ago at Capay Joint Union Elementary School and it is so fun to be coming back.
After spending 11 years as a paraprofessional, I received my teaching credentials and have been teaching at the middle school level or higher for the past 8 years. With all my experience and a very positive attitude, I look forward to getting to know all of the students and families at Capay again!

Hello! My name is Christine Lee, and I am excited to join Capay Elementary School as the new 5th grade teacher. I have lived in Northern California my entire life, and I am proud to be part of this wonderful community.
Before transitioning into education, I worked as an accountant in the farming industry, which helped me develop strong organizational and problem-solving skills that I bring into the classroom. I have a passion for helping students grow both academically and personally, and I strive to create a classroom environment that is supportive, engaging, and fun. This year, I look forward to building strong relationships with my students and their families while encouraging curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning.
In my spare time, I enjoy working in the garden, cooking, and traveling. I am thrilled to be part of this school and cannot wait for a fantastic year together!

My name is Evan Boone and I could not be more excited to serve Capay as next year's third grade teacher! As a Capay alumni myself, I understand the value of community centered education, and I am excited to be serving the community in a greater capacity!
I graduated from CSU Chico in the Fall of 2025, earning my bachelors of arts in liberal studies, and my multiple subject teaching credential! Additionally, I have served as a paraprofessional at Capay Elementary since the Fall of 2019.
Outside of work, I am a football coach, and I enjoy playing multiple instruments such as guitar and bass, and always enjoy a good concert! I am looking forward to a great school year!

My name is Bailey Payer, and I’m so excited to be your 1st grade teacher at Capay Elementary! This will be my third year teaching, and I’m really looking forward to getting to know your students and becoming part of this wonderful community.
I earned my bachelor’s degree in Child Development with a minor in Psychology from California State University, Chico, and I hold my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. I am also trained in the Science of Reading through IMSE, which has strengthened my passion for helping young learners build strong reading foundations.
I come from a ranching family, so being part of a rural community like Capay feels especially meaningful to me. I value hard work, strong relationships, and the importance of community. These are the values I bring into my classroom each day.
Outside of teaching, I am a wife and a proud mom to two little girls who keep me busy and smiling. We spend much of our time outdoors gardening and caring for our animals, which is something I truly love. Those experiences help shape the classroom environment I strive to build, one where students feel safe, supported, and excited to learn.

Mark your calendars! Here are some important upcoming events happening at Capay this August.
Come join the Capay School After School Team! Work with students in grades TK-8 providing homework support, enrichment and recreation activities. Hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 2:30-5:00, Wednesday: 1:30-5:00. Starting pay: $19.35-22.63 depending on experience in the field.
Requirements / Qualifications
1. 18 years of age or older.
2. Current TB clearance and Department of Justice fingerprint (upon employment)-employer paid.
3. Passage of district approved local assessment test OR AA Degree/completed 48 semester units of college level course work.

Hello Capay Colt Families!
We are excited to announce that our new principal, Jenni Hardwick, has begun getting our school ready for students, staff and families. While she is busy preparing for this school year, teachers have been working in classrooms, Maria has been busy in the office, new curriculum has arrived, summer school is working hard to stay cool on these warmer days, and Jackie and Pedro are making the school shine. Teacher letters and supply lists will be posted next week so you can do your back-to-school shopping early. Office hours for the rest of July are Monday-Friday from 8:00-4:00.

Capay is having a 4th of July Parade and its almost here. This July 4th everyone is welcome to participate in the parade, signups are free or even better, set up a chair and enjoy the morning! Staging begins at 7:00 AM, and the parade will start promptly at 8:00 AM. Registration is free and volunteers are needed to help make this community event a success.
